Day Eight

what a day!! we moved. uhaul kinda did us wrong and we got our truck for less time than we had planned. i wish i'd not been such a push-over and told them i'd take my business elsewhere, but i was afraid that since it was the weekend, we might not find a truck anywhere else.
we had lots of help again from abby, josh d., matt, michelle, maryann, josh c. and stewart. we would never have been able to do it without them. i could not be a part of the unloading at the new house, cause i had the tennessee williams show. (yes. it was nuts to say i'd stage manage a show when we were moving, but if all things had gone according to plan, it really would have been less nuts.) i was expecting to go to our new house after the play, as we were planning on sleeping there tonight, but shawn said it was just too crowded and hard to get around. when i came home i found that he had set up air beds in the living room. (i also found that the ladies had, in addition to keeping my kiddos, along with their own kids too, had vacuumed my VERY dirty post-move carpet and gathered up the remaining odds and ends that need taken over in our van! amazing people, i tell ya!) so we could brush our teeth before bed, i knocked on doors of apartments whose lights were on, in search of a new toothbrush someone might have stashed somewhere. joan came through for us!!
the picture is of the girls and me, having a slumber party as we all (except liam) watch return of the jedi and  i do my blog.

Day Seven

so tonight i got back on board with the show we are doing now for soundstage. (if you wanna know more about soundstage, here is the  link - http://www.soundstageproductions.net. ) i had been stage managing it, until i had to go to wv for uncle bobby's funeral. so i passed the torch, or in this case my black notebook, over to our very organized, on-top-of-it, and wonderful assistant stage manager, jenn. she and i met last night and went over all the final cues, and tonight i sat with her during the show to see all the cues in action before i do the projections tomorrow. call was at 6:30 and i was not too surprised to find somewhat of a crisis when i got there. if i have learned anything in my brief stint in theatre, it's to expect something to go wrong.  we were promised that everything would be left as the crew had left it. well...you know how that goes...promises promises... needless to say we scrambled to reset the lights and re-mark our chairs and stands and finished three minutes before the house opened. i guess i am strange, but i get a kind of buzz from everyone pulling together to fix a last minute problem. i mean, i'd rather things go completely smooth, but sometimes the challenge is exciting. (dave, jenn, and jesse may kill me for saying that...)
it was a great show! the actors were great as usual. and i had not seen it with all the projections and sound effects yet. i was once again impressed with this "theatre of the mind." i did not have my camera with me tonight, so here is a picture of me in my black tech clothes. (i'm so proud of my new theatre geekiness!:)

Day Six

hoo-ray for good friends! michelle came over for about 5 hours to help me pack. shawn had gotten really sick last night, so he was not able to help until later in the day. she and abby joined forces at some point, while shawn and i unloaded a van full of stuff at our new home. they made my living room walk-throughable. abby sustained a minor moving injury, banging her head on one of my shelves. then they watched my kids most of the day. later, abby, michelle, and i packed up most of the kitchen while the kids ate snacks and watched a movie. i am so thankful for so much help and for being able to have fun and connect with good people while doing a job i normally dislike A LOT!

Day Five

all day packing. yuck! but, thanks to our dear neighbor abby, who took our kids most of the day, we were able to get so much done. there was no way to pack w/ three rug rats under foot! the 15 minutes i did try while they were home, i knocked liam over twice. once w/ shawn's djembe, once w/ my foot, cause i was carrying a box. poor little guy.
shawn and i actually had quite a fun time together. i mean, packing ain't my favorite, by any means, but shawn and i made up funny songs, flirted, remembered funny stories, quoted funny movies, did various silly voices at random times and laughed at each other. basically we acted like real "weirdies."

Day Four

road trip!! 10 + hours in the kia with all the kids. we stopped at this gas station in kentucky that we had stopped in before. they still had the funniest sign up. i have shown this sign in an album on facebook, but i think it is worth another post here in this blog.

Day Three

my mom has digital tv with soooo many channels and a huge tv. after a long day of chasing our kids and helping mom out, it's so fun to cuddle with shawn on the big couch and watch crappy celebreality shows or man vs. wild or any other random cable show. tonight things got silly with some back to back "i love the 80's". here is our take on the 1989 video "if i close my eyes forever." ozzy was cracking us up. here is the resulted goofiness.
