so tonight i got back on board with the show we are doing now for soundstage. (if you wanna know more about soundstage, here is the link - http://www.soundstageproductions.net. ) i had been stage managing it, until i had to go to wv for uncle bobby's funeral. so i passed the torch, or in this case my black notebook, over to our very organized, on-top-of-it, and wonderful assistant stage manager, jenn. she and i met last night and went over all the final cues, and tonight i sat with her during the show to see all the cues in action before i do the projections tomorrow. call was at 6:30 and i was not too surprised to find somewhat of a crisis when i got there. if i have learned anything in my brief stint in theatre, it's to expect something to go wrong. we were promised that everything would be left as the crew had left it. well...you know how that goes...promises promises... needless to say we scrambled to reset the lights and re-mark our chairs and stands and finished three minutes before the house opened. i guess i am strange, but i get a kind of buzz from everyone pulling together to fix a last minute problem. i mean, i'd rather things go completely smooth, but sometimes the challenge is exciting. (dave, jenn, and jesse may kill me for saying that...)
it was a great show! the actors were great as usual. and i had not seen it with all the projections and sound effects yet. i was once again impressed with this "theatre of the mind." i did not have my camera with me tonight, so here is a picture of me in my black tech clothes. (i'm so proud of my new theatre geekiness!:)
